Sharkey’s Big Bocce Build

I’ve been getting a lot of questions about the possibility of moving to a new field and I feel an explanation is in order. So here it is, complete with pictures!

Last year we played at Onondaga Lake Park which had a lot of space and parking, but also a lot of geese. This year we have an opportunity to improve our situation thanks to Sharkey’s buying some extra land and working to make it favorable for bocce.

If you have been to Sharkey’s recently you might have noticed the construction equipment. Its there for us!

I can honestly say this is the biggest (even if it is the only) bocce construction project I have ever seen. The idea is to build a lighted parking lot, and a partially lighted field, with a refrigerator to keep our beer cold and a heater to keep our food warm.

Just built on Monday, this will give us power to light our field, keep our food warm, and beer cold.

One of the benefits of going to Sharkey’s is being able to buy from their beer distributors who sell at discounts. The discount will allow us to get Budweiser products for our $5, instead of Keystone. The food will be comparable.

This is where the spotlight to light our field will hang.

The field still needs some work but is coming along nicely. The following pictures show how it looked on Monday April 21st. I know its hard to get perspective from a picture so I am including several pics from several angles. The next phase of improvement will come on Thursday the 24th.
