Week seven was a little crazy, in a good way. So I’m also going to make this recap a little crazy, hopefully also in a good way.
There were a lot of notable games so I want to get right into it.
Tony, Tony, Tony has one of the best records in the league, and played a great game against league veterans Knickerbocces. This was one of those games that was so close I have to mention it. Tony, Tony, Tony won the first game 11-6, then things got crazy. Knickerbocces won the second, but not easily, it took 15 points to secure a 15-11 win, but they did win in style with a 4 point round! The third game also went into extra bocce with Tony, Tony, Tony winning the rubber match 13-11.
League veterans Kentucky Bourbon are starting to find their groove after a slow start, and faced league newcomers Dripping Stallions. Despite being new, Dripping Stallions put up a great fight, winning one game 11-2 before falling in the other two 11-7, and 11-9.
Another notable game between two bocce giants occurred when Rick & Robb (the first place team) played Eazy Duz It (last year’s second place team). Rick and Robb won two of the three . . . 11-9. 8-12, and 11-6, which in my book is a VERY good day of bocce, but they still fell from first to third in the standings. That’s how close things are at the top this year!
Some Innuendo played a very close one against the Rum Runners. None of the three games were decided by more than the minimum 2 points required to win. Julie Gilbert had a great day with 19 points and 2 aces, but the Rum Runners got enough bocces (Tom had 6 and Kevin had 5) to get the 2-1 win with scores of 11-9, 11-13, and 11-9.
Double A’s had what I would consider to be the best week anybody has had all season long. They won all three games against last year’s third place team Regulators (formerly known as Ball Don’t Lie) who only had 3 losses all season going into this game. Allison Bodine came up with a huge overall game with 20 points, 5 bocces, and 3 aces.
Sneaky Boccino is a team that is new to the league this year, and you can tell they are starting to find their their sea legs, because they really getting hot and looking dangerous. This week they won all three against Boccelism despite Jeff Weiner setting a season high for bocces with 10. Harrison Stockwell had a particularly good game with 19 points, 6 bocces, and 3 aces. He’s actually been a great overall player all year long, and as proof he has a triple double (that’s double figures in points, bocces and aces). He is one of only 3 players to have a triple double so far. Phil Martino and Siobhan Christou are the other two.
Finally we have the bounty game, Schaffer BMW vs. Little Big League. The first game was close with Schaffer BMW coming out on top 11-9. In the second game Schaffer BMW won again, locking up the $20 Sharkey’s gift certificate. In the third game Little Big League bounced back wining big 11-3.
Dave Oliva had a good day, not only winning the bounty, but proving that he is some sort of super human who can outrun anything with a combustion engine. I actually have video proof of this.
I believe that golf cart is the fastest machine yet invented by man, just beating out the Apollo 10 spacecraft. I always knew most of the bocce players in our league were superhuman athletes, but its nice to have proof.
And that’s not the only individual accomplishment! We have more!

We also brought back an old old old tradition; the Bocce Babe of the week. The last time we did this was 2005 and that was for only one girl. Some people are just worth it, and Melissa is one of those people.
You should read all about her because she brings you beer, which means she is one of the most important people in your life. Shame on you for not knowing the most important person in your life! She also has an amazing life story, that quite frankly, you won’t believe.
Read Melissa’s story HERE and answer the important most important question in your life . . . who brings me beer, and why?
