5 Individual Stats Explained

Turbo Bocce keeps track of 5 different statistical categories for each and every player in the league.  The following is an explanation of each.

Points: This one is pretty self explanatory.  If your bocce ball scores a point, you get credit for it.  All our games are played up to 11, win by 2. The all time record for points in a season is 200.

Bocces: This is without a doubt our most difficult stat to explain, but essentially it boils down to this: when the opposing team has a ball in scoring position and you knock that ball out of scoring position with your ball, you get a bocce.  Incidental contact does not count.  Your ball striking your opponents ball and knocking it away is the important factor here.  It does not have to be for the round’s only point, if the opposing team has three balls in scoring position and you knock one away so they only have two balls in scoring position, that still counts as a bocce.  There is one more quirk, you also earn a bocce by knocking one of your own balls into scoring position when it was not in scoring position before – same goes for hitting the pallino so that the advantage goes from your opponents team to your team.  The all time record for bocces is 82.

Debocce: This stat is a Turbo Bocce innovation!  Think of a debocce like you think of an error in baseball.  Its bad, and you don’t want one!  A debocce occurs when your team is in scoring position and you accidentally knock yourself out of scoring position.  Like with a bocce it does not have to be for the round’s only point, if your team has three balls in scoring position and you knock one away so you only have two balls in scoring position, that still counts as a debocce.  The all time record for debocces is 18

Ace: This is a simple one.  If your ball is touching the pallino after you throw it, you get an Ace.  You can’t be knocked into an Ace or out of an Ace during play.  If you throw your bocce ball and its touching the pallino you get an Ace no matter what else happens.  The all time record for aces is 33.

Turbo Round Wins:  Another Turbo Bocce innovation!  The “Turbo Round” is how we settle tied or disputed balls. When two balls are tied, or the teams can’t agree on which is closer we settle the dispute with a Turbo Round, which is a one on one sudden death shoot out, where the two people who threw the disputed balls rethrow them.  Whoever ends up closer to the pallino gets the point.  The all time record for Turbo Round Wins is 10.
