Week 7 Recap

After three weeks of rain, the sun returned to Turbo Bocce. I’ve never had a problem playing bocce in the rain, and in fact have had a lot of really fun rain games, but enough was definitely enough. Seeing the blue skies, the sun, and the bocce field packed with people made me realize just how much I was missing a typical summer day. I found myself really soaking in the sun and the summer, and having a blast.

Week 6 Recap

Yes, we played bocce during a tornado. About a hundred people didn’t show (and who can blame them?) but that still leaves quite a large number of people who were willing to brave the most extreme weather conditions known to Central New York (except in the winter) for their sport. No pictures exist because, quite frankly, it never stopped raining. But that’s okay because pictures would have been inadequate. Tornado bocce was so epic that it simply must be narrated by that deep voice guy who narrates every movie preview.

The craziest part of the day was when everybodies cell phone went off at the same time with this message.

Make Up Week Recap

Did a rain storm stop us from playing bocce? No. Did a tornado warning stop us from playing bocce? No. Did the the USA soccer game stop us from playing bocce? Yea, but only for a little while.

It was pretty cool to see fifty or so bocce players all packed into Sharkey’s cheering on the USA. If you missed it, here is a quick recap of all of Tim Howard’s record breaking saves.

Unfortunately the USA lost, but Belgium had a player named Alex Witsel on their team. How are you suppose to beat a guy with a name that cool?

Week 5 Recap

Having missed week 5 to go on my honeymoon, I’m sure there are some details I don’t know about, but there are also some things I do know, like who to thank – its a long list.

Greg Griffo stepped up and set up all the bocce equipment (which is not a small job), and then collected all the money.

Josh Griffo, and Jim Whipple (along with Greg) did the lion’s share of the cleaning up at the end of the day.

Julie Gilbert took pictures despite what I hear was quite a torrential downpour, so I could spice up this article with some pics.
